How Cosmetic Acupuncture Feels
Does Cosmetic Acupuncture hurt? No, it doesn’t hurt. The needles used in the face are as little as 0.12 of millimetre – that’s finer than half of your hair strand!
The majority of clients do not fee a thing however it is not unusual to feel a tiny and very quick prick as the needle is first inserted into your skin. Many clients actually comment on how relaxing the treatment is. It may seem unlikely that acupuncture treatment is relaxing, but the truth is that acupuncture increases the release of endorphins, those feel-good chemicals in your brain that make you feel mellow, rested, and less stressed!
Frequency & Duration
A course of 6-8 treatments is recommended. Most clients notice a difference after one or two treatments, however, the effects become most noticeable and lasting after a course of treatments. Each person responds differently, depending on the condition of their skin and lifestyle prior to treatment. Following the initial course of treatments, maintenance treatments of once a month can prolong the results for five to ten years.

Cosmetic Acupuncture is contraindicated if you:
are diabetic
have heart conditions including poorly controlled high blood pressure
have a blood clotting disorder
are prone to bruising
are diagnosed as being HIV positive or having developed AIDS
have previously had hepatitis
have an acute herpes outbreak
are pregnant
have a migraine/severe headache
If you have had wrinkle relaxing injections, it’s best to avoid injected areas for 3 months. This is because it may counteract the effect of injections. Acupuncture can still target other areas of the face that are free from injections.
